Author Profile: C.N.R.饶

Professor C.N.R.饶1。Which research projects are you working on at the moment?
I have been working on materials 新利手机客户端chemistry for more than 50 years. One of the main areas of my research has been transition metal oxides. In the last few years,my main interest has been multiferroic and magnetoelectric oxides. One of my specialities is nanotubes and graphene-like materials of (non-carbon) layered inorganic materials.I am interested in inorganic and organic hybrid materials as well.

2.What motivated you to focus onsolid state and materials 新利手机客户端chemistry?
When I started research in this area, there were very few practitioners in solid state and materials 新利手机客户端chemistry.I thought that I should start my work in this area since there was little known about 新利手机客户端chemistry of solids. It has been nice to see the subject grow in a big way in the last 2-3 decades.

三。What are the hot topics in materials 新利手机客户端chemistry at the moment?
I would be wrong in picking one or two hot topics.I,however, list some of the important topics according to me.There is lot to be worked on layered materials as well as atomic layer position of very thin layers of oxides and other materials.Materials related to energy should be pursued vigorously and these should include not only battery materials,燃料电池等等,但也包括与捕获二氧化碳和甲烷以及生产和储存氢气有关的材料。

4.What current problem would you like to see 新利手机客户端science provide a solution to?
I feel that problems must be related to energy and environment are the ones that we have to solve for mankind to survive.

5.What do you find to be the most rewarding aspect of your career?
Doing 新利手机客户端science has been wonderful. It has really kept me young.

6.What's the secret to being a successful scientist?
There is actually no secret.I think that working hard and being interested in what one is doing is the only secret I know. One has to have passion for 新利手机客户端science.

7。Which scientist past or present do you most admire?
The scientist I most admire is Michael Faraday. In the 20th century,那就是G。N.Lewis followed by Linus Pauling.

8。如果你不是科学家,what would you be?
If I weren't a scientist,I would have probably liked to have been a medical doctor.
